Samsung T809

Samsung-t809I just got the Samsung T809 on T-Mobile, and it’s taking some getting used to.  Although the device’s physical appearance is nice, the user interface lacks and is not as good as Sony Ericsson and Nokia devices I’ve used in the past.

There’s a couple of annoyances. You can’t use mp3’s as ringtones (though you can just copy it to your PC, change the extension to 3gp, and then copy it back. It’ll work). The phone doesn’t have the option to ring and vibrate simultaneously.

It’s nice having bluetooth on my laptop. It takes just a few seconds to do the above process.

Frustratingly, there’s no way to port a number from T-Mobile ToGo (prepay) to a plan (contract), and when I try and forward all calls from my old number to the new one, it tells me it’s a restricted action.  Talk about making things hard.

Not sure whether I’m going to keep using this, though I’ll give it a few days. Looking forward to the SonyEricsson M600i being released (in the UK). That’s the phone I want to get!

  1. I got samsung t809 for last three month and i know how to set mp3 as ringtone without convert in 3gp so if u like to know how its works please send me email my email id is

  2. I’ve sold the phone now, so am not too concerned. Actually read some hacks online about how to do it, but none seemed to work for me (and I’ve sinced lost the information).

If you have a method which you’ve tested, feel free to share it here for other users of this phone, I’m sure they’ll appreciate it.
